  • Supervise and support OR nursing staff during ophthalmic procedures (e.g., cataract, glaucoma, retinal surgeries).
  • Ensure adherence to sterile technique and infection control protocols.
  • Monitor patient safety and comfort throughout perioperative phases.
  • Assist in complex or emergent surgical cases as needed.
  • Assign and adjust daily OR staff schedules based on case load and acuity.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical techs.
  • Mentor and train new OR nurses and support staff.
  • Facilitate communication between pre-op, intra-op, and post-op teams.
  • Oversee room turnover efficiency and ensure timely start of cases.
  • Monitor and manage surgical instrument and supply inventory.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and troubleshoot issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA).
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of surgical procedures and nursing care.
  • Track and report OR metrics (e.g., case delays, cancellations, safety incidents).
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • 3-4 years as an Operating Room Nurse
  • At least 1 year of Charge Nurse experience
  • Current state nursing licensure to practice in good standings.
  • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 of employment or documentation of current BLS certification.
  • Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.  
  • Successful completion of Pediatric Advance Life support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope of services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification.
  • Specialty certification in Perioperative Nursing is preferred.
