It's Teacher Appreciation Week

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week. Are you a teacher? Did you say no? Are you a nurse or a patient navigator? Then yes, you are a teacher. We tend to only think of teachers as those who teach at schools. As Navigators, teaching is a big part of our job. We teach patients and their families many things such as how to access resources, manage side effects and recognize signs of complications. We also often teach other healthcare professionals about oncology and navigation.

Teaching is not an easy skill to learn or to do. Some people are natural teachers while others have to practice and grow this skill. Just because you understand something well doesn’t mean you can teach it to someone else. It takes time and experience to improve teaching skills. Attached are teaching tips for your reference.
