CancerCare was chosen because of its diversity and dedication to cancer patients and their families. Here is a list of the many services they provide free of charge:
1. CancerCare has free telephone counseling with an oncology Social Worker at 800‑813‑HOPE (4673) during the week.
2. There are many online and telephone support groups for patients, families, and caregivers. These include specific groups:
- breast, colorectal, gynecological cancers and other cancer specific groups for patients or caregivers
- parts of the cancer journey such as bereavement and survivorship
3. Connect Education Workshops are available online or by phone to educate patients about different cancer-related topics.
4. There are numerous educational handouts, booklets and information pages on most cancer sites and almost every topic. You can download and even order some of the publications. Here are a few examples:
- Coping with Cancer as a Young Adult
- Understanding and Managing Chemotherapy Side Effects (booklet)
- After Treatment Ends: tools for the Adult Cancer Survivor (booklet)
- A Helping Hand: The Resource Guide for People with Cancer (booklet)
5. Co-pay Assistance for cancer patients who are eligible through their program.
